Details & Important Information

Environmental Sustainability:

It is important to us that our wedding is as sustainable as possible. Therefore, there will be no invitations by post. We would be happy if you would also make a conscious contribution to this i.e. by carpooling, traveling on public transport, not buying new clothes etc.

Arrival and Departure:

  • By train: The Mariazellerbahn is a narrow-gauge railway that is over 100 years old and is known for its views and the sense of deceleration. The train departs from St. Pölten and stops in both Mitterbach and Mariazell from where the hotels are within walking distance.
  • By bus: from the main station in Vienna directly to Mariazell.
  • By car: We would ask you to carpool as much as possible. Therefore, we also recommend accommodation in Mitterbach, as you can walk to the Friday evening event from there.
  • By plane: From Vienna Airport you can get to St. Pölten by train (change to the Mariazellerbahn) or to the main station (change to the bus). If you want to rent a car, please sign up for the carpool list to save money and CO2. Or maybe other guests can pick you up from the airport.
  • Transfers on site:
    • On Saturday evening between 11pm and 4am, we will provide a shuttle service back to your hotels in Mitterbach and Mariazell.
    • For the various events, we will create WhatsApp groups for people staying in the same hotel.
    • Alternatively, you can ask the owner of the guesthouse to drive you for a small fee.
    • There are two taxi companies in Mariazell that you can reserve in advance if you wish to do so:
      • +43 664 5129651 for Taxi Orttenburger
      • +43 664 4837688 for Taxi Scheucher
  • Here you may find the Carpool List:

Dresscode:

  • Friday: optional arrival
    • Surprise Programme: sports shoes (or wellies in case of rain), weatherproof clothing (hot weather: sun cream + head cover, rain: rain jacket + umbrella), water bottle, snacks if necessary
    • Pre-wedding drinks & snacks: “come as you are”.
      • from business to hiking outfit – everything is welcome
      • Be sure to bring warm clothes, as you will wish to spend a lot of time on the terrace
  • Saturday: Wedding tent
    • Footwear: due to our tent wedding with subsequent meadow fun, we recommend flat, comfortable shoes or shoes with a thick heel. In case of rain, we would ask you to bring a second pair of waterproof shoes (e.g. Wellies) to ensure dryness while getting in and out of the tent.
    • Wedding ceremony: traditional dress
      • Any kind of elegant traditional dress is welcome. Please feel welcome to come in your own elegant national dress.
      • If you don’t have any Austrian traditional dress, you may be able to borrow one from friends or from a costume rental shop (e.g. Tostmann). Otherwise talk to us – we have lots of spares. We are very keen on you not buying anything new for this occasion!
      • Alternatively, you are welcome to wear a summer dress (at least knee-length) or a light summer suit (or light-coloured trousers with a white shirt).
    • Wedding dinner:
      • Long dress (no ball gown, if possible colourful / summer)
      • Dinner jacket or dark suit with colourful bow tie
  • Sunday: Sun, Fun & Hangover (if hot enough)
    • swimwear, leisure clothes, sun cover

It is very important to us that no new clothing is bought because of our wedding. That would not be very sustainable. If you are missing a suitable item of clothing, just talk to us, ask your friends or look into renting one.

Please also remember that the area can be relatively cool. It is usually 7-8 degrees Celsius colder than in Vienna and the nights are cool. So make sure you always take something to cover yourself with.

Questions, Wishes, Suggestions:

If you have any questions or uncertainties in advance, please contact us directly.

If there are any questions or wishes on the weekend itself, we would ask you not to ask us, but instead to approach either Stephy’s Maid of Honour, David’s Best Man or Stephy’s siblings. They have all the necessary information that we have. As bride and groom, we have put a lot of energy and love into the preparations and therefore wish to just relax on the actual weekend.

Childcare:

A delicate but important point for our friends: as much as we like your children, we want a celebration among adults. This weekend should not only be a time for fun partying and dancing into the early hours, but also an opportunity for real relaxation and couples time. Therefore, we would like to ask you, dear friends, to leave your children at home. If this is not possible at all, please contact us. Babies are of course excluded from this wish.

Pictures:

We look forward to you taking snapshots on Friday and Sunday. On Saturday we have a professional photographer who will take care of capturing the special moments. So enjoy the day – there’s no need to think about your mobile phone.

If you do wish to take your own photos, please remember that no photos of Ferdi or other children may be shared or posted on social media.

Parking:

  • Friday: Car parks in Mitterbach are free of charge. Car parks directly at the Erlaufstauseeschänke are subject to a charge.
  • Saturday: the fewer cars driving to the tent the better, as there is not much parking space. Please be sure to carpool with other wedding guests. You can leave your car on Saturday evening, take the shuttle back to your accommodation and come to collect your car the next day.
  • Sunday:
    • There is a paid car park at the Erlaufsee.
    • In Mariazell you can park for free approx. 200 metres before reaching the cable car station (watch out for the signs).
    • The SPAR parking lot in St. Sebastian is free of charge.

Our Maid of Honour and Best Man:

If you are planning a surprise event (speech, dance, game, song etc.), please let the Maid of Honour or the Best Man know about it in advance so that they can keep an eye on the schedule. Also, if you have any questions, suggestions or problems on the wedding weekend itself, please approach them – they have all the information that we as the bride and groom would have. Thanks to them, we as the bridal couple will be able to enjoy our wedding to the fullest.

Our Love Story

Who would have thought that you would meet the love of your life at a festival? And that the really important moments in life take place on parking lots?

30 May 2019

First Sight

We met at a parking lot on the way to the Lighthouse Festival in Croatia. David referred to Stephy as a “blonde Porsche driver”. Stephy asked David if he was “a bad person” after she heard that he had been working as a trader of commodities until recently. And the rest is history.

20 July 2019

Getting Serious

David surprised Stephy with a hiking weekend to Duisitzkarsee in Styria. Before getting out of the car, we decided that we liked each other far too much and would therefore like to be “fix zam”. It was a wonderful weekend. The wedding will take place exactly on our 5th anniversary.

3 July 2021

Engagement

David surprised Stephy once again. He again took her to the Duisitzkarsee, where it all really began. And again we were slow to get out of the car, as David knelt down on the gravel and proposed to Stephy. It was a beautiful and intimate weekend, as without mobile phone signal we had all the time in the world to dream up and plan our future together.

Wedding Gifts

At the moment we are as happy as one can be. And yes, the fact that you are willing to take the time off, pay for travel and accommodation and spread good vibes over the weekend is already enough of a gift. We would like to thank you very much for that.

If your gift is a surprise such as a speech, game, dance, song or similar at the wedding itself, we would ask you to let the Maid of Honour or Best Man know in advance:

  • Lisa Charlotte Sonnberger: +43 650 4554377
  • Kilian Höfer: +43 650 5151800

If you wish to give us something else to remember our wedding by, we would be delighted to receive a financial contribution towards our Mini-Honeymoons.

As we love traveling and our son Ferdinand has already seen a bit of the world, we want to do the opposite for our honeymoon. We will spread out our honeymoon over several weekends over the next few years, leave our son with his grandparents and check in at a nearby spa hotel. Sometimes it will be a bit more sporty (yoga, cycling, hiking, splitboarding or ski touring, cross-country skiing), sometimes it will be pure romance (wellness, private bathtub, couple’s massages). This is something very special for us, because we rarely treat ourselves to this kind of couple’s time. It also gives us the opportunity to think back on our wedding again and again in the years to come and reminisce about the beautiful memories.

Below are a few ideas. If you have any tips for other great places to stay, we would of course be delighted to hear from you. You are welcome to either hand us your gift in an envelope or transfer it directly to our wedding account:

Important: Please do not give us any vouchers – it will only stress us to redeem them in time.
